Hugs

Photo by Thiago Barletta on Unsplash

It has been years
Since we came into contact;
We were too involved just to
Greet each other with a handshake;
A hug seems appropriate — it is appropriate.
Your arms haven’t lost their touch;
How wide and welcoming when
You wrapped around my body
Like a gentle octopus,
Suction cup hands pressing
Behind my back, your palms
Rubbing on my spine, a public
Massage. Your arms flexing, the
Two balls of muscles lying flat…
